Chat Filter
The Chat Filter feature allows users to narrow chatbot responses to specific parts of the knowledge base by selecting predefined fields and values.
1. Purpose
The Filter feature helps you narrow down chatbot answers to a specific subset of data. By applying filters, you can ask questions that only return results matching your chosen criteria — for example, by region, topic, or time period.
⚠️This feature may not be available in all applications — it appears only in GLChat instances where filtering has been enabled by the administrator.
2. When to Use Filters
Use filters before sending a question when:
You want the application to focus on a particular category, group, or dataset.
You need consistent filtering for several follow-up questions in the same conversation.
3. Opening the Filter Panel
In your chat window, click the Filter button on the bottom-left corner of the chat input box.

A Filter panel opens on the right side of the screen, showing available fields (for example, Geography, Speaker Type, Therapy Area, Date Range, etc.).

Click the + sign to apply the filter fields.
Each field can be used to refine what information the chatbot looks at when generating answers.
4. Applying Filters
In the Filter panel, review the list of fields.
For each field you want to use:
Select a value from the dropdown or enter text, depending on the field type.
Some filters let you choose one value, others allow multiple selections.

Click Apply.
Once applied, a small status label will appear under the chat input (for example: 1 Filter Selected or 2 Filters Selected).
5. Sending Messages with Filters
After applying filters, type your message in the chat box.

Press Enter or click Send.
The chatbot will respond using only the data that meets your selected filter conditions.
6. Reviewing or Changing Filters
To see which filters are active, click the Filter button again or check the label near the chat input.
To edit a filter, open the Filter panel, change the value(s), and click Apply again.
To remove a filter, click the trash icon next to a field.
To remove all filters, click Remove All and then Apply.
